DSM agrees terms to acquire postbiotics pioneer Adare Biome
While prebiotics and probiotics are well-established ingredients, postbiotics are an emerging category. They are quickly gaining popularity as the market for biotics expands, people’s knowledge of microbiota grows, and research continues. Due to the growing emphasis on gut health, biotic ingredients are predicted to grow at a double-digit CAGR over the next five years. As a result of the anticipated market boom, investments in this category have increased.
In this regard, Royal DSM, one of the biggest health and nutrition companies in the world, recently disclosed that it is in exclusive talks to acquire Adare Biome, a top producer of postbiotics. DSM will not only gain from this acquisition in terms of diversified opportunities in the human nutrition market but will also be able to increase the variety of animal nutrition products they offer because of postbiotics’ long shelf life and stability.
